I've worked on this for a few days now and I think it's ready to release to the public. I wrote a program that lets the Thumby play Gameboy games that you can use online here: https://notin.tokyo/gameboy  or you can download the python version here: https://github.com/InkboxSoftware/Thumboy. But if you want to check out how I built the program and understand more of the backend of how it works then check out this video:

Anyways I'd love to see if anyone gets some enjoyment from this. I don't think it is really feasible to play whole games on the Thumby, but I like the novelty of being able to play Gameboy games on it.

This is incredible. I was a bit disappointed that the emulator wasn't running natively on the Thumby, but after watching the video I can hardly blame you for doing things the way you did. Perhaps another person will eventually come along and code a Gameboy emulator in MicroPython without all the libraries, but we shall have to wait and see. Either way, I'm very impressed.

Really cool project! If only the display was a bit higher resolution, I think it could probably be done. Not in MicroPython, but a Gameboy emulator is probably doable on the platform in C?

If someone prefers to have the program on their own computer, they can download the Python version from the GitHub repository you mentioned: https://github.com/InkboxSoftware/Thumboy. This version will require them to have Python installed on their machine. Welcome to the digital world of online games, where new technology meets fun.

Although I was somewhat dissatisfied that the emulator was not operating natively on the Thumby, I cannot fault you for proceeding as you did after viewing the video.

Wow, this is really very different, I watched the video with curiosity.
