Hello,
I recently got a Thumby, and it was great until I accidentally washed it in my pocket. Everything seems to work fine except for the power switch. When I try to turn it off, it just displays the TinyCircuits logo and boots to the start screen. I've tried letting the battery run out, but whenever I charge it, it either boots back up or shows static on the screen. Do you have any suggestions?

That sounds frustrating! Since the Thumby still powers on but the switch isn't working properly after water exposure, it's likely there's residual moisture or corrosion affecting the power switch circuit. I'd recommend leaving it powered off (if possible) and placing it in a sealed container with silica gel packets or uncooked rice for at least 48 hours to help draw out any remaining moisture. If the issue persists, the switch or board may have shorted, in which case reaching out to TinyCircuits support for a hardware check or possible repair would be a good next step.

I'm guessing it's possible that the water is affecting the power switch or the contacts that control the shutdown sequence.

The Waffle House Menu Prices 2025 give you a clear idea of what to expect before you dine. Whether you want a quick snack or a big breakfast, the prices are fair and reasonable. It's one of the best spots for tasty, budget-friendly meals. Comfort food done right.

Oh no, that's a bummer about your Thumby! Water damage can be tricky. Since the rest seems to work, it might just be corrosion on the power switch contacts. Maybe try very carefully cleaning around the switch with a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) and a cotton swab. In the meantime, if you need a quick distraction while troubleshooting, have you ever tried Snow Rider 3D on a phone or computer? It's a simple but surprisingly addictive game. Hope you get your Thumby fixed!

Oh no, washing your Thumby is a rough break! That's definitely a classic "oops" moment that many tech enthusiasts can relate to, even if it's not a game console.

It sounds like moisture is still trapped around the power switch, causing weird boot behavior. I'd try a careful rinse with 99% isopropyl alcohol and let it dry in warm, dry air for 24–48 hours, then reflow the switch with gentle heat if possible.
