Title: Smartwatch + Accelerometer
Post by: capoeirista on January 26, 2017, 03:14:25 PM
Hello folks, 100% newbie here.  I'm a software engineer with no experience with hardware of any sort, but have been wanting to get involved for some time now.  My current interest is in fitness tracking, and I was wondering how easy or difficult it would be to simply add an accelerometer TinyShield to the SmartWatch kit.  Is it just a matter of adding to the stack, writing some code, and modifying the dimensions of the enclosure?  Or will this introduce other concerns about power supply, compatibility, etc?

I'm basically trying to take what's in this tutorial here: https://www.pubnub.com/blog/2016-06-15-diy-fitness-tracker-over-bluetooth-with-arduino-and-cordova/ and adding it to the SmartWatch kit (basically just adding a TinyScreen and lithium battery from what I can tell).

Many thanks!

Sorry about the delay- that's definitely possible, although the stack/enclosure will be getting pretty large with the current smart watch kit. You could start with TinyScreen+ and end up with something reasonably sized, but we don't quite have an enclosure available for that yet.
