How secure does this forum have to be?

Hi, after filling in captchas and replying to security questions and waiting to be accepted by a human as a forum member, and logging in, I still have to fill in captchas (multiple times, but that's probably just my bad eyes) and reply to a question for every single post. Is this really necessary? I understad the motivation but maybe reducing the barriers to post here is in your interest as well. Kind regards, Thomas

Unfortunately, the spammers had found this forum and started spamming it within days of initial launch.

That said, I haven't seen the captchas or security questions while posting. So it hasn't been a nuisance at all for me. I do have it set to always remember me though - perhaps that has something to do with it? Or perhaps the prompts stop once you have posted some minimum number of times without being banned?

For example, with this post I didn't need to jump through any hoops. Just click Reply, type some text, then hit Post or Preview.

Ok, will check my settings. Thanks for the quick reply.

Sorry for the crazy amount of security, we were getting massive amounts of spam and bots trying to register (about 500 bots per day), so I cranked up all the anti-spam stuff to max for now.  We'll be doing some more forum maintenance and may tweak this down in the next few weeks.
