Thumby / Re: Thumby Care
« on: April 05, 2022, 03:41:34 PM »
Unplugging and plugging or leaving Thumby plugged in shouldn't cause any issues. If anything strange state ever happens, turning the Thumby off and back on will solve most problems. We don't foresee there being any further issues, but a fresh UF2 download is always an option to reset Thumby. For resetting with a fresh UF2:

1. Connect Thumby to your computer
2. Turn Thumby off
3. Hold the down DPAD direction button while turning the Thumby back on
4. Wait for a file explorer to pop-up on your computer or for the RPI-RP2 drive to appear on your computer
5. Drag and drop the UF2 into the folder window that appears. You can download the file using this link: https://github.com/TinyCircuits/TinyCircuits-Thumby-Code-Editor/raw/master/ThumbyFinal03222022.uf2
6. Turn the Thumby off and back on

We recommend watering Thumby 0 times daily and washing the Thumby  with your laundry only when you're sure you never want to use it again.

We plan to have an approximation of battery level at some point in the future. It won't be accurate enough for a percentage, but it will likely display a state:
Battery: low/medium/full

TinyDuino Processors & TinyShields / Re: TinyZero + GPS + Analog

That's great! I'm glad you were able to use a different sensor to get the results you need.

Do you plan on posting/publishing your project somewhere? We would love to share it once you do! Hackster is a great place for posting projects, and I'm sure this project in particular would be really popular there.

Hi there,

There's definitely a pin conflict here. We list all of the pins used by boards under the Tech Specs tab on the product pages for future reference, and we have a TinyShield Compatibility Matrix here for our boards: https://learn.tinycircuits.com/TinyDuino_Overview/#tinyshield-compatibility

Can you tell me all of the hardware components you are using? Is the analog sensor the only way to get the data you want? Hopefully we can come up with a workaround!

Cheers,
Réna

I'm not sure why the Tiny Saber would be picky about a cable that's able to transfer data to a Tiny Arcade, but I'm glad you've got a cable working with it.

Thanks for the update!

I took a peek through - your comments are very charming.

Today's the day where I will finally add all of your amazing games to the arcade list, I promise. I had a lot of fun throwing babies earlier while testing the game.  :D

The device, while it's only visible for around 6 seconds, should appear in the device manager. Open the device manager and press the bootloader button. Once pressed, the device manager should refresh to show either a libusb device, or an unknown device to demonstrate that the software was downloaded successfully or not.

If the device does not appear at all after pressing the bootloader button, it's likely a bad cable or otherwise poor connection. I tested this with an R3 unit and working cable and got an unknown device as expected since this unit hasn't had the libusb software downloaded.

It looks like it would work since the TinyZero (256KB Flash, 32KB SRAM) has more memory than the minimum requirements (16KB).

Adafruit has a nice library with examples that could work well - just need to replace the Serial object with SerialUSB for TinyZero for the examples: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_TFLite
The github build is currently 'failing', but it would be worth it to test the hello world example.

Just to let ya know, I updated the tutorial with the working code and added the TinyZero with accel to the possible hardware options! Thanks for asking about this!

Hi there!

1. Yes, it definitely makes more cost-effective sense as well as saves space to use the TinyZero with accel rather than the TinyDuino and USB Board.

2. I tested out the program and it looks like it's compatible as long as the BMA250 (accel) library is updated.
It looks like the current software on the site isn't working when downloaded form CodeBender, so I'll update that. In the meantime, I attached the updated program that works with TinyZero.

I hope that helps!

Cheers,
Réna

I sent you an email to get you a replacement. If you're in the US, I might exchange the boards since I'd like to see what's going on with your board.

The 3.7V batteries we supply should be sufficient. Are you still encountering issues?

Todd,

If you are unable to see the device at all in the device manager, the problem is likely a Micro USB cable.

I would recommend trying to re-install the WCID driver using Zadig.

Is LTO disabled in the Arduino IDE? Are you able to see the port that the Saber is connected to?

Best,
Réna

Hmm. It shouldn't get hung up on a file just due to its size. It may be taking a long time without providing in-progress feedback, or it's possible there is a DRM blocking your ability to convert the video.
