Well, it looks like a complete shut down and night without power has fixed the problem.
Thanks.

General Discussion / Tiny Saber USB Interface problem.
« on: September 01, 2017, 10:46:24 AM »
I have a problem.
Firstly, I'm a programmer, but this is my first Arduino project.  I'm re-tasking the TinySaber as a magic wand (I'll post progress later)

Yesterday I was able to upload the original TinySaber sketch to the board just fine (Changing some minor details so I could see that it uploaded OK)

Today, my computer seems to not want to talk to it.

I can short the two pins to reset the board (The saber program freezes on the board as expected) but the IDE cannot locate the board to upload.

Looking in the Device Manager in Windows 10, I can see the board as Unknown Device, but when I reset it, there is no change - the libusb-win32 group does not appear.

I have tried this with both battery attached and unattached to the board (Powering from just USB) as well as leaving the board unpowered for a time to completely reset.

As it was working yesterday I can only assume something's changed somewhere, but I don't know where to begin troubleshooting.

TLDR:  Help!

If the battery is plugged in then it's always drawing power.  Even if the saber is in "Sleep" mode with no LEDs showing, the program is still looking at the touch sensor and accelerometer, waiting for some input.  It will eventually run down.

If you incorporate a switch into the system to isolate the battery it should keep its charge and the board will be truly powered off.
