Hello! I’m brand new to TinyCircuits. Just got my first kit. I apologize in advance for the nub questions. The default volume level on the Tiny Video Player is super low. You can barely hear things unless you put your ear right to the speaker. Is volume control on the Tiny Video Player something that can be added? Or is there a default volume setting in the code that can be set to a higher level? Thanks.

Hello,
You should be able to get around 2-5x the sound by pressing and installing the speaker more firmly. To do this, take off the white sticker and adhere the speaker firmly against a flat surface. It may help to have the Video Player on with a video playing and testing the audio while pressing on the speaker.

You may also want to try converting videos with higher volume, as the volume level at the time of conversion is the volume level you end up with.

I'm also having issue with audio volume. The speaker seals well and pressing down on it doesn't improve the volume. It has to be on full volume and in really quiet room to hear anything intelligibly. And even the one sample video that has clipping audio is barely audible in regular noise room.
Is there anything i can re-check/test to make sure everything's ok?
I mean i don't expect it to be loud but even punched up audio before converting is really hard to hear.

And a related question. I’m noticing that attaching the speaker to different surfaces affects how loud it sounds. Pressing it to my wooden desk made it play louder but obviously I’m not going to carry a desk with me everywhere. Does anyone have information about the best material to attach to the speaker (plastic, metal? Thick, thin?) and the best shape to act as an an amplifier (flat, cone, etc.).

Przemo-c - pressing down should make the output sound louder. If it makes no difference at all, I would recommend detaching it from a surface completely to listen to the output, and then pressing it against as flat a surface as you can find within the TV enclosure, we recommend using the back panel as seen in the assembly video here: https://youtu.be/6SyeTexpeeM

Sci-Fi-Guy - We haven't tested multiple surfaces on purpose (we have used different surfaces, but the pressure and flatness are all we have noticed as making a difference), but we have definitely found that the flatter the surface, the better the sound output.
